Suffolk Va April 3d 1863

My Dear Wife

i received your very kind letter yuesterday and i was very glad to hear that you was well at this leaves me at present.  i must again thank you for sending me so many good things in my Box for i have eaten no government Rations since i received the Box  it was the best treat i have had for some time.  Dear Maggie  i have no news to send you  everything is quiete at present about Suffolk and i hope they remain so.  My Dear Wife  I have nothing to write about today  only to state that i am in the best of health and i hope this letter will find you and my little Daughter in the very best of health

Dear Maggie  you must excuse me for writing such a short letter today.  Give my love to your Mother   Jane and all the family

and my most tender Love to you and our little Daughter.
