Suffolk Va Feb 2d 1863

Dear Wife

last thursday i got two Likenesses taken and this morning i whent to Adams Express Office and i have sent 1 to you and 1 to my Father  in the likeness i sent to you there is 40 dollars  i thought it was a safe way to send money  when you receive the likeness you must write and tell me what you think of my picture

being as we only received 4 months pay and i had a five debts to pay  if we had Received 6 months pay i could have sent you a pretty good pile but i suppose i will get it some time

My Dear Maggie  i have not much more to say at present  i hope this letter will find you injoying the Best of health as it leaves me at present  dont forget to tell me what you think of my likeness

you must go and see the one i sent to my Father fore they was took different  one was sitting and the other standing

i have no more to say at present  Give my Love to all inquiring Friends
