My Dear Wife

I received your letter of Jan 27th and I was very Sorry to hear that Mother was So very low.  from what you Say in your letter there is not much chance for her to live but She is in Gods hands and his Will must be done and perhaps it is all for the best.

there is much talk just now of a move down here and my coming home (missing) rather uncertain just (missing)  but I must trust to luck and hope for the best.  the weather has been very fine for this last week and I suppose that has put it into there heads that the Army aught to move for it wont do to let us have it easy to long at a time  but Perhaps this war wont last forty years.  there is Some talk of Peace but there must be something else beside talk done before we see Peace again.

Dear Wife  I have no news to send you  things are quite at present.  I hope this will find Mother much better.  Give my Love to Jane and all the Family

My Best Love to you
I am as Ever
Your Affectionate Husband
