My Dear Wife

i received your kind and loveing letter of the 9th and I was very glad to hear that you was still injoying good health as it leaves me at present.

Dear Maggie  i love to read your letters  they are so frank and warm in the Expression of your love for me.  and I can assure you that your love is returned.  I Love you Dearly and my Prayer is that my life may be Spared to come home and that we may be Both spared to live a long and Happy life togather.

Dear Wife  i have nothing new to add only that we have had very hard duty to proform for this last month  we have Scarsly had time to change a Shirt  we have been kept in the Saddle almost night and day and i cannot Say when we shall have time to build winter Quarters.

I am waiting for the good time coming but it is very long time coming  but when we do meet i hope we will have happyness Enough to pay us for our long Seperation

I see by the papers and by your letter that Lincoln is Reelected President which i hope is for the Best.  I must now bring my letter to a close hoping these few lines will find you and Lizzie in the injoyment of good health as it leave me now.  Remember me Kindly to Mother  Jane and all the Family
