My Dear Wife

i received your Kind letter today and i was very glad to hear that you and Lizzie was injoying good health as this leaves me at present

My Dear Wife  i have no news to add only the Wether is getting rather cold and we have not whipped the Rebel Army yet  but like you i live in hopes of Better times and hope that we shall be rewarded for our long seperation

Dear Maggie  my fingers is Cold and you must Excuse my very short letter  Please except my Very Best Love  this from your Affectionate Husband Wm Lancaster
