My Dear Wife

i write to inform you that i am well and i hope these few lines will find you the same.  we had another fight yuesterday  i came out all right.  fighting is an evry day occurance with us now.  we have the rougest kind of work to proform but it cannot last forever  another month will finish it for this Season at any rate if the war is not brought to a close

i received a letter from Father yuesterday  he was telling me that times was getting rather dull and that most of the factorys was working up Stock and preparing to stop and i think it would be better for me to continue in the Service this winter for if i should come home and could not get work to go at it would come rather unhandy.  and when winter Setts in i will get leave of absence to come home and if you will agree i will bring you down with me and we can spend the winter togather quite comfortable.

When you write you might let me know how times is and what you think of the prospects this coming Winter.

Dear Wife  i have nothing further to add.  i hope this will find you and Lizzie injoying the best of health.  Give my love to all the family

My Very Best Love to you
i am as Ever
Your Affectionate Husband
William Lancaster

P.S.  if Mrs Theile comes up to inquire about her Husband tell her that he is all right  he is not much of a hand for writing  so if you should happen to see her you can tell her what i have said.
