My Dear Wife

I received your Kind letter of the 5 ??? and I was very glad to hear that you was Still injoying good health as this leaves me at present.  I have nothing new to add  things down here remain as usal  quite at Present.  I am very glad to hear that there is some improvement in Williams health  I hope he will soon be able to move about.  I received a letter from Jane  I was very glad to hear from her.  I think that I shall be likely to come home about the last of this month for 20 days if nothing happens.

Capt Monroe is now absent on furlough and when he returns i shall Put in a application for leave of absence for twenty days and i hope it will be granted me  it is getting late and i have to go on Picket tomorrow morning  So i must close  Remember me to all the family
