Williamsburg Va March 8th 1864
My Dear Wife
i received your kind and affectionate letter last night and i was very glad to hear that you was still injoying good health as this leaves me at present
things about here are as usal though it is a very wet day but there is always some kind of weather this time of the year i am glad that Lizzie is doing so well i hope she will have good luck and have no sickness this next summer. my time is nearly down to five months and when that slips around i will be at home a free man and i hope we will both live to meet again and i think there is happyness in store for us yet at least i hope so.
Dear Maggie i have no news to send you things are quite at present i have no time for Reading down here so you need not mind sending any Books for i have plenty to do.
My Dear Wife i must bring this to a close Give my love to all inquiring Friends
