My Dear Wife

i received your kind letter day before yuesterday at Yorktown  i was glad to hear that you was still injoying good health as this leaves me at present.  We left camp at Portsmouth on Saturday morning at Daylight and got on board of transports to sail for Yorktown  We arrived at Yorktown on Saturday night and yuesterday afternoon we arrived at this place  so you see we have been turned out of our winter Quarters to rough it in the open fields and woods for the rest of our time  it would not do to let us rest for the this next 7 months  i suppose they want to get all out of us they can  they are going to send all the reinlisted men home  so we that do not Reinlist will have our hands full until they come back

Dear Wife  i have no news of importance to send  the weather has been fine for this last few days but i do not know how long it will last

Dear Maggie  i must bring this to a close

With My Best Love to you
i am as Ever
