Suffolk Va Nov 4th 1862

My Dear Wife

i received your kind and truly loving letter and glad to hear that you was still injoying good health as this leaves me at present

Dear Maggie  in your last letter i could plainly see the trace of tears  Maggie i would not be the cause of your tears if i could help it  but Maggie we are apart now but i do long to meet you once more  as you say it is one year since we have been together and Maggie Dear it has been a long year to me  and i hope it will not be another year before we do meet again  i hope that i shall have the happyness to meet you again

Maggie  you must be of good cheer  i will live to come home to you and i love you to well to leave you any more

if i ever i leave home again you will come with me  but Maggie Dear  i think that we will spend many happy year togather yet  i belive that God will spare me through this war and i do promise you that i will be to you one of the best of Husbands  i will keep my promise  i am so glad that Lizzie is doing so well  i would like very much to see her  i know that she must be a pretty child and i love her though i have not seen her only her likeness which is a Beauty

Dear Wife  i have so many thoughts in my head tonight after reading your letter that i can hardly write  i am Proud to have a wife that can write such a letter  Maggie it is the sweetest letter i ever received in my life and it is the greatest pleasure i have to receive your very kind letters  i have not time to write much of a letter tonight  it is getting late and i will have to go on Picket in the morning so i must try and get some sleep tonight for i cannot sleep when i am on Picket  So you must excuse my Poor Short Letter

Maggie  i do Love You Most Dearly  No Husband never loved a wife better then i love you

i must now close
