Suffolk Va June 9th 1863

My Dear Wife

i write to you to inform you that i am well and injoying good health and i hope these few lines will find you injoying the same Blessing

this will make the third letter i have wrote to you and have received no answer  there is something strange about this  it has never happened so before  i will put a different Direction on this and perhaps you will receive it.  When you receive this i want you to write and let me know if you have received my last two letters  one of them was dated May the 27th and the other on June the 5th  be sure and let me know if you have not received them  and if you have not received them i will alter the Directions in future.

Our Rigement was payed two months Pay on Friday last and inclosed in this letter is twenty five Dollars.  Adams express is shut up today and i thought i would send it in a letter this time

My Dear Wife  it is a good while since i received a letter from and i think you might spare time to write if only a few lines to your Poor Soildier

this is all i have to say at present
