My Dear Wife
I received your kind letter today i am sorry to hear that you are not well i hope that this will find you much Better i think Lizzies Picture looks firstrate i am very glad you have sent me her Picture it looks firstrate
i was afraid that the report of my being wounded would reach you. in the Battle at Reams station on the 25th my company was in action all day and it was reported that i was mortly wounded i had some very narrow Escapes and somebody reported that i was wounded and the report spread through the Regement and Evry body Except my own company thought it was true. but you see i am still safe and sound and i hope to remain so
My company is still on Picket at Prince George court house and i cannot tell when we shall get releived Pretty rough work
Dear Maggie i have no news to send only there is a brighter prospect of the war coming to a close there is very good news in the Paper and the war may come to a close sooner then we Expect this is all i have to add at present Give my love to all the Family
