My Dear Wife

i received your kind and affectionate letter tonight and i was glad to hear that you was still injoying good health as this leaves me injoying the same Blessing at present.  everything About Portsmouth is quite at present.  We have had plenty of cold weather so far this winter  it has been more severe this winter then either of the other winters.  but i guess i will manage to live through it and after spring setts in summer will soon pass around and then you know what a happy time we will have when i come home.

tell Sarah Dyson that i (missing) forgot the (missing) Lancaster pike.  or the Merry (missing) to have generly.  i am glad to hear that Lizzie is doing well  i hope she will have the blessing of good health always.

Dear Wife  i have no news to send at present  Give My Love to Jane  sister Margreat  Sally Dyson and all inquiring Friends
