My Dear Wife
i received your very kind and affectionate letter today and i was glad to hear that you and Lizzie was still injoying good health as this leaves me also injoying good health. i received a letter from you a few days ago which i did not answer so this will do for them both. we have had a pretty cold spell of it down here this last few weeks but cold weather will soon be over another two months and the worst of the weather will be over.
My Dear Wife i have no news to send you everything is quite about here at present i hope these few lines will find you injoying the Very Best of health. Dear Maggie i am getting to be a very poor letter writer i never can find enough to say to fill my letter. but never mind time rowls along and next summer will soon be around and then it will not be long until i shall be out of the Service of Uncle Sam i hope forever
