My Dear Wife

I write to inform you that i have sent you by Adams Express today One Hundred and fifty dollars  You will find the Check in this letter  You will have to go to Adams Express office to get it.  i received my Pay yuesterday from the Paymaster at Fort Monroe.  i received four months Pay so i am able to Pay back what i got from you sometime ago.  i had Some Pictures taken the other day and i send one in this letter so that you can see wether i look any worce for my wound.  i am Sure you will think i look like anything but a Sick or wounded man.  My wound is almost healed up and being on the back of my head you cannot see it when looking at my face

Dear Wife  i have nothing new to add.  i hope this will find you and Lizzie injoying the Very Best of health as it leaves me at present  i close with my love to all the family
