My Dear Wife

I write to inform you that i am well and comfortable at present  i received a wound from a Rebel shell in the fight in front of Petersburg on the afternoon of June 15

My wound is not Dangerous  only a Scalpt wound and i will be all right again in a very short time  My Eyes are rather Bad but i expect they will Soon be well also.

You must not be uneasy about me for i am very well cared for  i could not wish for better attendance  i will write to you often and let you Know how i am getting along  but my eyes are to poor just now  i cant see to write very well  i will have to bring this to a close  Give my love to Mother  Jane and all the family
