Bowers Hill July 18th 1863

My Dear Wife

i received your kind letter yuesteday and i was very glad to hear that you and Lizzie was injoying good health as this leaves me at present

Our Rigement is now at Bowers Hill about half way between Portsmouth and Suffolk  there is no Union Soilders at Suffolk now  we arrived at this place day before yuesterday  i do not know how long we will stay here but i suppose we will stay here for some time for we have been knocked about rather rough for some time past and it is about time we had a little rest

My dear Wife  i would like very much to come home to see you but i am debarred that Plesure for the present  but one more Year and i shall be a free man and it will be the happiest time of my life when i meet you again  and i hope God will spare out lives that we may have a long life of happyness togather

Dear Maggie  i have no news to send  Your Brother is well.  the weather is very hot and unplesent  we are very Buessy in camp fixing places for our horses and rigging up our shelter tents

My Dear Wife  i must now close  Give my love to all the family
